Yes, for some smaller procedure’s Dr Nam does participate in the GAP Cover programs with most major health funds. This means your contribution towards the surgeon’s fee may be capped at $500.

Generally yes, to see Dr Nam is a government requirement to provide a referral from your GP or another Specialist Doctor. It is preferable to have a referral from your GP as these last 12 months whereas a referral from another Specialist only remain valid for 3 months. The 3 and 12 month limits start from the date of your first appointment with Dr Nam, not from the referral date.

Dr Nam has been a fully qualified Specialist Plastic Surgeon for more than 12 years and prior to that spent 5 yrs on the Plastic Surgery Training Program in Victoria. She is also a serving Board Member of the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS).

We offer LED therapy to all of Dr Nam’s surgery patients. It is a very effective and relatively low cost way to get the best possible scaring outcome and speed up the healing process. We recommend 5-10 sessions depending on what your budget can afford. Each of these sessions last for 20 minutes and are available in the Bulleen Rooms only. Please refer to your Scar Management information provided or contact the rooms on 03 9075 0005.
Yes. Whilst we do prefer to see all patients at their post op appointments for the surgical aftercare, that is not always possible due to patient or nursing availability. Most GP clinics will have a nurse that is able to do a dressing changes, if required, but please check with your GP.
We don’t charge for these appointments, they are included in your surgery fees paid upfront.
Dr Nam consults out of her main rooms in Bulleen but also in Sunbury at Goonawarra Health Services.
Generally, Health Funds don’t contribute enough towards your surgeon’s fee to cover the running costs of a private practice. We do participate in the Gap Schemes with most of the major health funds for smaller procedures.
We required payment upfront for all surgery. Surgery under the Health Funds Gap Schemes, when you may have a gap up to $500, this is required minimum of 7 days prior to surgery date. For larger Private surgeries, full payment is required a minimum of 14 days in advance and sometimes we require a deposit at the time of booking the surgery date.
Whilst we don’t directly offer finance or payment plans to patients, we can certainly put you in touch with a finance company that many of our patients have used and provide positive feedback.
Generally, Dr Nam does prefer to see patients in person to be able to do a thorough assessment and consultation. That said, at times she does use Telehealth appointments as an option for patients – please speak with our rooms.
