The condition is often caused by repetitive hand or wrist movements, such as gripping, pinching, or lifting.
Symptoms:
Pain and tenderness near the base of the thumb
Swelling around the wrist and thumb
Difficulty moving the thumb, especially when gripping or pinching
A “sticking” or “snapping” sensation in the thumb
Causes & Risk Factors:
Repetitive wrist or thumb movements
Activities like texting, gaming, lifting a baby, or using tools
Pregnancy or postpartum hormonal changes
Arthritis or direct injury to the wrist
Treatment Options:
Resting the wrist and avoiding repetitive motions
Wearing a splint to immobilize the thumb and wrist
Applying ice to reduce swelling
Anti-inflammatory medications (e.g., ibuprofen)
Physical therapy or stretching exercises
