A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a procedure designed to reposition and reshape the breasts so that they are in a higher, more aesthetically pleasing position.
Why undergo a breast lift?
Often, as the result of aging, weight loss, pregnancy, and breastfeeding, the shape and volume of breasts change. The breast can often have a “deflated” appearance as a result of these changes. Breast lift surgery aims to restore the natural, youthful appearance of the breasts.
What does it involve?
During your initial consultation with Dr. Anavekar, she will discuss what your main concerns are and the appearance you wish to achieve. She will ask you some questions and perform an examination to ensure you are fit for surgery and to assess which procedure will best suit you.
The surgery is performed in an accredited private hospital. It is performed under general anesthetic with a qualified anesthetic. You will be required to stay in the hospital for 1-2 nights.
What happens after surgery?
You will feel particularly uncomfortable for the first 48 hours. This discomfort rapidly improves with each day. You will be able to drive once you feel ready to do so. It is recommended that you take 2-3 weeks off from work and that you have adequate support at home if needed. You must avoid heavy lifting for 6 weeks, and during this time you must wear a soft, firm-fitting, wireless bra.
You will then have review appointments with Dr. Anavekar & her practice nurse post surgery during the first 6 weeks. Additional review appointments may be scheduled, as deemed appropriate, after that.
