During her surgical training, which included rotations through St Vincent’s Hospital, The Royal Children’s, The Alfred and The Austin, Dr Anavekar gained extensive experience in the full spectrum of plastic surgical procedures. Upon completion of her training in 2012, Dr Anavekar undertook an overseas fellowship in both Switzerland and France. This was directed at gaining further experience and a broader perspective in the fields of maxillofacial surgery, head and neck surgery, rhinoplasty and aesthetic surgery. During this time, she had the opportunity to work with internationally renowned surgeons including Pr Bernard Devauchelle and Pr Sylvie Testelin, who were responsible for the first face transplant.
